Where Your Money Goes
The Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad relies heavily on its billing program for funding. The amount of money raised annually by taxes and donations funds only about 20% of our annual budget. The costs of ambulances, fuel, medical equipment, supplies, and personnel have risen dramatically over the years. Without the billing program, the Rescue Squad would need to raise taxes substantially. Today, the Squad functions at about break-even.
Typically, billing revenue, smaller donations including fundraising projects, and tax revenue are put in the general fund and used for normal operating expenses.
From time to time, we are blessed with a sizeable bequest as part of an estate. These larger donations are set aside for the purchase of expensive equipment such as ambulances or our anticipated new building.
Donations both large and small are incredibly generous, greatly appreciated, and ultimately serve the entire community.
